After winning the Stan Lee Foundation & Todd McFarlane creative invite on www.talenthouse.com, I had an awesome time at the San Diego Comic Con in July 2011! I am currently working on making the step into the comic industry as a professional.
I am 37 years old, married and live near Berlin, Germany.
Since I was a child, I have been fascinated by comics. It always has been American comics, especially superhero comics.
In 2006 I began a comic design class in Berlin. During a year my fellow students and I learned a lot about how to make comics. That´s when my German superhero DER ENGEL was born.
From September 2007 until June 2009 I worked on the first book of a 5 book miniseries about DER ENGEL. In June 2010 the second book was published by the THENEXTART publishing company. One can buy both books on www.amazon.de or www.thenextart.de in their online shop. Or just drop me an email on info@tomppa.de.
My absolute favorite comic book artist is Alex Ross. I also like Frank Miller a lot. I think those two influenced me the most. My favorite works from them are MARVELS by Ross and THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS and SIN CITY by Miller.
Quite new among my favorites is the Brubaker/Lark run on DAREDEVIL at MARVEL.
Furthermore I own all issues of SPAWN and HAUNT. Two of my favorite ongoing series.
I also like the franko-belgian comics such as UNIVERSAL WAR ONE from Denis Bajram and THE UNICORN by Gabella and Jean.
My favorite Mangas are BIOMEGA and BLAME by Tsutomo Nihei.

New COUNSELOR cover art revealed!

I painted this piece already around 3 months ago. It was part of my preparation for actually drawing the first COUNSELOR book, which I am doing right now. I produced some art for promotional purposes during that time, and this is one of the pieces I did. And it turned out, that it actually might be the cover of the first book. But let´s see what happens

Today (4th of March), it is exactly one year after I won the Talenthouse creative invite "Create A Superhero Character" by Todd McFarlane and the Stan Lee Foundation. Wow, what a day that was! And the months after that day were even more crazy. I went to Phoenix and San Diego and met Todd McFarlane and Stan Lee!! That was just a dream coming true for me.
But much more happened during that trip! I got in contact with an American independent publisher by showing them my portfolio at the San Diego Comic Con and guess what, they were interested! So now we are working on the first issue of a brand-new "The Counselor" comic, and it is pure coincid
